DRIVE TRAIN

ramjet 350

Power is supplied by a 350 horse power fuel injected GM Ramjet 350 crate engine with headers. The ram Jet 350 is fed by a state of the art, electronically controlled port fuel injection system. The Ram Jet 350 uses state of the art components developed by GM to give you all of the benefits of modern electronic engine management. This is all enabled by the sophisticated, latest generation MEFI 4 controller which has improved electronics and closed loop capability. A tried-and-true 350 small block combination anchors the Ram Jet 350. It is designed for long lasting durability and pump gas compatibility with cast iron Vortec cylinder heads, an hydraulic roller camshaft and 9.4:1 compression ratio.

Power is transfered to the axles through a GM Turbo Hydramatic TH400 automatic transmission and an Atlas II 4.3 ratio transfer case.

The TH400 is an automatic shift, three-speed, longitudinally positioned transmission. A fantastically designed and built transmission, the Turbo 400 is broadly popular for Jeep conversions. They are very servicable, buildable and their strength puts them into the top tiers of Jeep sports and performance applications.

The Atlas II transfer case is a solid, one piece case design manufactured from 356-T6 heat treated aluminum alloy. This material is also used for the structural access cover and all other exterior components. The massive gears are helical cut and synchro-equipped for quiet performance and “shift-on-the-fly” capability. These gears are supported by needle bearing elements precision matched to strong 8620 shafts. The ruggedly designed output shafts are amply supported by large taper bearing sets. The Atlas also features a unique heavy duty twin stick design to deliver crisp, quiet operation.

We also install an ArtCarr gated shifter. Because of its design, this super tough shifter is virtually impossible to jam or spring. It is made with heavy metal gates and is precision engineered to enable fast, positive shifts without missing a shift.

We connect the transfer case to the axles with Tom Wood’s custom drive shafts. We have these drive shafts made specifically for our application to ensure correct overall length and proper extension with our suspension system. Tom is famous throughout the four wheeling community for supplying drive shafts of the highest quality and durability.
