Axle Assemblies
We use what we consider to be the best performing axle assemblies available, the Tera 60 CRD. These axle assemblies are built by Teraflex specifically for the serious off-roader. They have taken every measure to create an exceptional off-road product. They consider strength and durability as key to producing this top notch assembly.
Listed below are just some of the CRD 60 characteristics that make it such an exceptional product:
- Press fit and plug welds
- A 30 ton press is used to securely seat the DOM axle tubing (3.0” OD x .5” wall). The combination of plug welds and press fit works to provide durability and Strength.
- Reinforced bearing caps
- Designed for maximum strength, the Tera 60’s side bearing caps are thicker to virtually eliminate flex and distortion.
- High clearance bottom
- The Tera 60’s unique, smooth-bottom design provides the most ground clearance of any popular off-road differential.
- Cast differential cover
- The ductile iron cover is reinforced for added strength and is more durable than the stamped covers of other center sections.
These axle assemblies also include:
- 5:13 gears
- This low gearing provides the needed torque for optimum crawling
- 35 spline chromoly axle shafts
- The chromoly (chromium-molybdenum) alloy axle shafts have more than twice the strength of standard axle shafts.
- Detroit Lockers
- The Detroit Locker is the most durable and dependable locking differential available. Detroit Locker maximizes traction by delivering 100% of the torque and power to both drive wheels. It is engineered to keep both wheels in a constant drive mode and has the ability to automatically allow wheel speed differentiation when required. The preload devices between the side gears provide for a quieter & smoother traction control.
- CTM 300M U-joints
- CTM 300M U-joints, made from high strength 300M alloy steel, have a larger cross and pin diameter providing more strength for high-stress applications. The CTM joints also eliminate the failure-prone needle bearings and replace them with a bronze sleeve.
